RE: Phaeton at the Hershey Show

I bought through Bankston as well and they were great to deal with...I think the shows are for the most part "smoke and mirrors" and far as pricing and believe you will do just as good or better when dealing with the likes of Bankston, Sherman or Kings Campers. I bought at 27.6% off MSRP on an ordered coach during a ten minute phone call with Bankston...And that was before the economy took a dump.

RE: Taking out of state delivery

Since you just did this a couple of months ago, why don't you list the correct forms needed to complete the transaction? While you are at it, go ahead and lay out the procedure? BTW, when my friend took his paperwork to BOE, he walked out in less than an hour with the correct paperwork. An afternoon trip to DMV took less than an hour and he was totally legal. After taking out of state delivery and completing 91 days out of state... 1. Complete BOE Form 111 (can be obtained online) and attach copies of receipts (gas, food, campground/resort, etc.). 2. Submit to BOE. I submitted to main Sacramento office which may be the reason it took 3-4 weeks to get application approval. Hand carried to local office may be quicker as mentioned by dons2346. 3. Initiate reg. with DMV ASAP after entering state with motor home to avoid penalty fees. 4. When approval letter is received from BOE, return to DMV with approval letter in hand to complete reg. *NOTE - DMV will require an inspection of the coach and you will have to direct them to the VIN visible in two locations. I was unable to locate/access the VIN stamp on my engine during the initial inspection and had to go back after contacting Tiffin. That should do it...Good luck!

RE: Taking out of state delivery

I couldn't agree more with Dons2346...DO NOT BOTHER WITH DMV UNTIL YOU BRING THE COACH INTO CA. TO REGISTER IT. Go see DMV IMMEDIATELY after bringing the coach into Ca. after the 91 days. Let them know you have filed for a "Sales tax exemption" with the BOE. They will complete all registration documentation short of collecting sales tax. Once you receive the exemption approval from BOE go back to DMV to complete registration and get your plates. BOE IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL, DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL THEM WITH QUESTIONS...There is a lot of bad info on this site from people who don't know what they are talking about. KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS, CHANGE STATES EVERY MONTH...You will not have a problem! I do not totally agree with this info. The first stop should be to the BOE office. You should have with you the correct forms filled out along with all your documentation of your 90 days out. BOE will in turn issue you another form which than can be presented at the DMV office when you register. Get your tax exempt form from BOE before you even think about a visit to DMV And I disagree with this info...If you do what you suggest, you will be paying late fees for not registering the coach in a timely manner after entering the state with the motor home. BOE will not have a decision on your application for sales tax exemption over night. My app. took 3-4 weeks before I had my approval. I went to DMV within a few days of entering the state and told them I was awaiting on my application for sales tax exemption from BOE. The first question they asked me was WHEN DID I BRING IT INTO THE STATE?. I was given temp. reg. until I had my approval letter from BOE then completed registration with BOE approval letter in hand. I just did this a few months ago and had ZERO problems. Some people make it a little harder than it really is...JM2C

RE: Koni FSD Shocks

The Konis are the real deal. They will also help eliminate squatting of the front end when braking.

RE: Taking out of state delivery

I just did this last March and it was a pretty simple process. The BOE is not concerned with how many miles you travel during that time. Just keep all of your receipts. I also would not stay in any one state for more than 30 days to avoid a potential use tax. The BOE was actually very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

RE: selling class A, maybe, need some help-answers

i wanted a better quality bigger motorhome... i made a mistake on our first coach... before i bought the new M/H i had these people sell the mistake for me. http://www.mhsrv.com/inventory_item.asp?id=499615 their commision was 5%, or $4,500.... owning the tiffin less than a year cost me about 15K.... and i feel lucky to be rid of the tiffin.... From a Tiffin to a Safari for "better quality"? :h What Tiffin model did you own?

RE: Tucson Dealer won't honor E-Bay Auction- Advice

SAS has it right. Doing the 'right thing' because you have a loaded gun to your head isn't exactly the 'right thing' - it's the pragmatic thing or the 'last resort before the s..t hits the fan' thing. There's absolutely no credit due to this company. I couldn't agree more...They "did the right thing" because they realized they had no other choice. They didn't do it for the right reasons or to be honorable...

RE: MCD American Duo day night shades

I have them throughout my coach and love them. They are a spring loaded design and have a very "clean" look to them. When the solar shade is drawn you can still see out while getting the interior shading/UV blocking. Not to mention there are no more strings to worry about breaking or having to retention.

RE: RV Sewer Hose

Maybe its time to try something different? I went with the sewer solution, got a good deal at Tweetys.com. also you can go to sewersolution.com to find out all about it. Good Luck I'll second that...Once you spend $75 on a Sewer Solution you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. You couldn't pay me to go back to the 3" stinky slink.

RE: Oregon coast

Outdoor Resorts in Newport gets my vote. I believe it is the only coastal resort actually on the water with beachfront sites. Add to that OR luxury and amenities.

RE: Tiffin Motorhomes

I sold Tiffin, Monaco and al in their family, as well as American, Fleetwood, Damon and Forest River. Not that I know it all, but I did receive a lot of training and factory tours. For a price point there are more features on a Tiffin. period. Now, whether these are the features YOU are looking for, and ifthe floorplan is the ONE that works for you, the brand hardly makes a difference. FWIW, the cust satisfaction stats usually released in the spring were not this year. Because Tiffin smoked everyone else. The reporting group didn't want it to look so one sided. Oh, and not because they were all so happy at the factory, but because they were all so happy withtheir coaches. Me, I have an older Fleetwood. Number of reasons, 1- all the bugs worked out?, 2 no slides, we all know these will leak or break? 3- I could write a check for it. Tiffins of that vintage had horrible styling. As Lucy stated, this erroneous info that you have to take your coach back to Red Bay for service is quite comical. If you CHOOSE to go to Red Bay for service, it is commonplace for them to do repairs for little or no cost on coach's out of warranty. I also personally have had dealings with one of the West Coast service rep's and he bent over backwards to help me with my minor issues and allowed me to take my coach to a service center of my choice. I noticed my coach pulled to the right slightly, but it was such a minor issue, I didn't mention it to Tiffin until six months and 4k miles later. Tiffin authorized and paid for a full alignment with no questions asked within minutes while I was at the service center. When I offered to pay myself and get reimbursed through Tiffin, the service manager said "Don't worry about it, Tiffin is great to deal with." He said Fleetwood was the worst at authorizing/paying for warranty claims and Monaco was a close second. Nuff said about that...

RE: tow defender or rock shield

I have the Tow Defender by Roadmaster and it works really well. I rolls up and stores on the back of the coach when not in use and sets up in less than a minute (from rolled-up position). It can be used with a rear radiator setup unlike Protect-A-Tow. I also didn't like how PAT mounted (screwed into rear cap of coach and underside of towed vehicle). TD is about $100 more than the PAT, but I think it is worth it overall.

RE: Bilstein Shocks

I just put Koni FSD's on last week and couldn't believe the difference in ride quality. Bilsteins are a gas shock and are really can't be compared to Koni's with the internal dampening system.

RE: Tiffin Phaeton

The 360 Cummins has more than enough power. I have been very happy with the performance of mine and I have a 40'. The 36QSH is a nice floor plan with a mid-coach t.v. About the only thing I didn't like about it was the bedroom sink. We also liked the large garden tub in the 40QSH. I'm 6'2" so the large shower was a plus. Overall, I believe the Phaeton is tough to beat for the money. You should not have a problem obtaining 26-28% off MSRP. Try Bankston in Al., Sherman in Miss., and Kings Campers in Wi. I think you will find the discount you are looking for. For the small difference in price, I would also consider the 40' models as well. We absolutely love our 40QSH.
